Group is still meeting
Grand Rapids Babywearing is still an active group with many members and well-attended meetings.
We meet on every third Thursday of the month, at 10 am at
Hope Reformed Church in Grand Rapids
We also have a sister group which meets the first Thursday of every month at the same location. This other group meets and discusses a wide variety of natural parenting topics.
What will happen at a Meeting?
We hope that meetings will be structured around a topic, yet open to discussion about any questions you may have. Some topic ideas will be: pouch day, ring sling day, mei tai day, wrap day, wearing a toddler, breastfeeding in a carrier, wearing a newborn, etc.
We hope that meetings will be a great place to meet other moms, share the babywearing love, try on new carriers, and help each other use carriers. This will also be an opportunity to talk about the philosophy of babywearing, and other parenting questions.
Hope to see you there!
Why a Babywearing Group?
We decided to start a babywearing group in Grand Rapids to help educate and inform parents about the many benefits of babywearing and the many types of carriers available.
There has been a major babywearing boom in this generation as many parents are rediscovering the ancient art of wearing babies.
There are many benefits to wearing your baby, and I will list a few here:
*It is very soothing for the baby, making for a calmer baby who cries less and sleeps better
*It is very convenient for the parent, allowing them to be hands free in order to help an older child or get some work done
*It is a bonding experience for both the baby and the parent, as they spend time together
*It is an educational experience for the child, watching the parent go about his or her daily task, hearing the language, and being stimulated by the activity
